Amber Brown has joined the staff of Schneider Publishing as the trade-show operations manager for TEAMS ’10. She will also be responsible for the company’s industry relations and its participation in the dozens of trade shows, conventions and conferences that Schneider Publishing sponsors and supports each year.

Amber most recently was marketing events manager at the Boston Convention Marketing Center, where she was responsible for marketing efforts for the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center and the John B. John Eddow is the Financial & Human Resources Manager for Schneider Publishing. John joined our company in February and his responsibilities include administering employee benefits and overseeing the company’s finances.

John previously worked as the vice-president of sales and operations for a manufacturing company for six years, during which time he helped quadruple the company’s revenues. His work experience also includes five years as a staff research associate for the University of California San Diego Medical Center. John has a degree in Biochemistry & Cell Biology from UC San Diego and an MBA in Marketing & Finance from San Diego State University. He is also gaining experience as a new father. Several members of the Schneider Publishing staff participated in the National Day of Service in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, on Monday, January 19.

Schneider Publishing staff members pulled kitchen duty at the Union Rescue Mission in Downtown Los Angeles, helping to serve more than 1,000 men, women and children breakfast during a three-hour period. In addition to providing meals, the Union Rescue Mission also provides emergency shelter, health and dental care, a legal clinic, a recovery program and a transitional housing program. Lisa Furfine is the Associate Publisher of SportsTravel magazine.

She is responsible for marketing and key relationships for SportsTravel magazine and the TEAMS Conference & Expo, which has been named one of Tradeshow Week magazine’s 50 fastest-growing shows for four years.

Lisa’s 20 years of experience includes fundraising for foundations and the promotion of professional athletes. Her background also includes advertising agency work for sports- and travel-related clients, including Anheuser-Busch, Inc.

Known for her creativity when it comes to accomplishing her clients’ marketing objectives, Lisa is an avid sportswoman herself and recently took up tennis.

Martha Romero Villaseñor is the office manager for Schneider Publishing. She will be celebrating her 12th anniversary with the company in January.

A graduate of Loyola Marymount University, Martha holds a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in International Business. Hagit Worona is the Art Director for Schneider Publishing. Hagit joined the company in October 2006 and brings a wide range of creative talents to our staff.

Jason Gewirtz will begin working on May 19th as the managing editor of SportsTravel.

A 13-year veteran of daily journalism, Jason worked the past eight years for the Long Beach Press-Telegram, where he started as a staff writer and was promoted to the position of city and business editor. He spent the last two years as the executive editor in charge of city and business coverage for the Press-Telegram.

Jason graduated with a degree in journalism from the University of Colorado at Boulder and has won numerous awards as both a writer and editor.

Alexia Gura is the assistant editor in charge of news and business coverage for both Association News and SportsTravel.

Alexia joined our company last March and has been a terrific addition to our Los Angeles-based headquarters staff.

A graduate of Pepperdine University, Alexia earned a masters degree in journalism from the University of Southern California, where she was also awarded the Jack Langguth First Amendment Award for a story she wrote on the parole system at San Quentin State Prison. Her previous experience includes work as an associate producer for television programs appearing on Court TV and the Discovery Health Channel.
